Welcome to Creative Communities
Inspired by the national initiative, Year of Creative Scotland 2012, Creative Communities is a project hosted by St Columba’s School, Kilmacolm, which aims to encourage people, especially young people, to enjoy the power of storytelling. Stories, of course, are not limited to the written word. They can be told in song, a six-frame cartoon, a photograph or a film.
Why Stories?
People live and leave their stories and a community is a place where stories collect. In discovering and animating the stories of the people and the place we share our hopes, our fears, and our histories. We entertain, we teach and we learn.
Get Involved
Over the course of the year our Writer in Residence, Kirstin Zhang, will be working with a wide range of groups in the community. A number of events will be open to the public. Details can be found in the calendar. All activities are free and no experience is required - just a willingness to come along and see where your imagination takes you.
